What does the word "Hygge" mean?

A quality of coziness and comfort that engenders a feeling of contentment or well-being (considered a defining characteristic of Danish culture).

What is our mission?

Education is power, and it leads to success. Our mission is to provide free tutoring services for BIPOC and low income students to overcome the lack of equity in education and educational resources. However, we also provide free tutoring services for those who are not BIPOC or from low income families

What grades and subjects do we tutor?

We are tutoring students ranging from Pre-K to 8th grade in a variety of subjects. When signing up, please specify what areas your child needs the most help in. If a student needs assistance with a foreign language, we will try our best to match them with a tutor but we can not promise we will have a tutor experienced in the language.

What is the process of signing up?

To sign up, visit our sign up page. Once you submit the form, please fill out the required consent form. If you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to contact us using the form below, emailing us directly, or submitting a form on our "Contact Us" page.

Is Hygge Tutoring affiliated with anything?

No, Hygge Tutoring is not affiliated with anything; just founded by a high school student!

Who runs Hygge? 

Hygge Tutoring is fully led by high school students! Both chapter heads and tutors are all high school students that volunteer their time to help their peers.  

When are tutoring services available?

Our free online tutoring is available Monday through Friday after 3 p.m. If needed, weekend tutoring can be arranged.
